Wapakoneta's recreational opportunities include a variety of top-quality public/private golf courses. We're a short drive to three state parks with large lakes for boating and water skiing, plus hiking, and camping. In fact, many locals have weekend homes on these lakes. Wapakoneta and Auglaize County parks provide plenty of opportunities for walks along the scenic Auglaize River or the historic Miami-Erie Canal. In 2009 the City of Wapakoneta debuted its Waterpark and performing arts center.

If you enjoy sports, award-winning local high school and college teams are right in your backyard. Major league sports, the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals, are located 90 minutes south from Wapakoneta. The Dayton Dragons and Toledo Mud Hens, both Minor league baseball teams, are even closer. Interstate 75 provides easy access to any of these teams. And our beloved OSU Buckeyes, are also only 90 minutes away on US 33.
